Magnificent Reclaimed Antique Granite Cobblestones
Just harvested from a large turn-of-the-century New England Mill
These fantastic pieces of history are truly in a class of their own, World Class. Our cobblestones possess all the desirable qualities to justify this classification:
|
|
|
› Color- consistent medium gray salt and pepper tones with mineral deposits evident on many of the worn surfaces.
› Wear - well worn tops from over a century of surface wear.
› Size - Large majority of the stones are jumbos with average size 11-12''L X 4-5''W X 5-6''D.
› Uniformity - These cobbles are extremely versatile because of their uniform sides.
› Clean - Vast majority of these stones were originally set in sand.

Reclaimed Antique Clay Pavers
The Reed Corporation is also a supplier of Reclaimed Antique Brick blocks. These Antique Clay Pavers are over a century old and have been reclaimed from a large New England mill. These colorful pieces of history were manufactured in Ohio and other Midwestern states during the late 1800's through the 1930's. While New Englanders had cobblestones available for road pavers, Midwesterners had these heavy brick paving blocks for their roadways. These brick pavers used at the Mill were imported from Ohio and were used to supplement the cobblestone roadways. The brick was used mostly between the railroad tracks which extend to all the loading docks in the Mill complex. In addition there was extensive brick paver treatment between the railroad tracks and the buildings.
- Size - Larger than a conventional building brick - traditionally 9'' X 4'' X 4'' (Metropolitans are 8 ½'' L X 4'' D X 3 ½'' W)
- Color - lovely medium - darker red spectrum. The color and texture variations are the result of the different techniques in the manufacturing process of yesteryear from the techniques used today.
- Wear - well worn surfaces to these pavers are part of their historic charm. Horse drawn carriages were responsible for much of the surface wear in the late 1800's.
- Clean - the vast majority of these pavers were dry set so they were free from cement contact.
- Versatility - their low porosity, high strength, and color variations make our brick paving blocks a tremendously aesthetic and durable option for your pavement needs.
